An oil of summer light and healing, potentiated by the green virtues of nine traditional Solstice herbs - 2025 edition.

30mL - 1oz

Comes in an amber glass dropper.

Description

The Solstice Nine-Herbs Oil is a living ritual guided by light and season, crafted only once per year on the Summer Solstice. Each year, the plants that offer themselves for harvest are different, chosen not by recipe, but by presence, place, and spirit - the only enduring constant being St John’s Wort. I walk the local wilds in silence at dawn, to find the green simples as the Sun rises. No two batches of this oil are ever the same, but every batch is crafted with drops from the previous one.

This year’s 9 verdant allies are: St John’s Wort, Mugwort, Yarrow, Musk Mallow, Chamomile, Valerian, Lavender, Lemon Balm, and Daisy. These plants are revered in British, Gaelic and French folklore for their virtues and powers of protection, healing, blessing and vision: it is said that, should they be gathered at this precise time of the year, they reach the height of their potency.

The herbs were sought and propitiated at the threshold of light on the longest day of the year, and dried beneath the Sun for three days before being solar-infused into cold-pressed almond oil on the Feast Day of St John (June 24th). In 2025, the Saint-Jean was an especially auspicious day as a Jupiter Cazimi happened coupled with a New Moon in Cancer and Venus in Taurus.
This rare alignment was called by astrologers the “Day of Miracles” and the “Luckiest Day of the Year”, bringing to mind images of open paths and flowing fortune - sealed as a key to unlock movement, riches, opportunity, and serendipitous alignment.

In addition to the above, each bottle carries:

  • A sprinkle of sacred ashes from my St John’s Eve bonfire (fuelled with the same herbs used in the oil) - these are believed to ward off evil.

  • Luminous flecks of pure 24k gold leaf, honouring the solar current’s royal fire.

Uses

This is an anointing oil only, intended for spiritual purposes and sold as curio, not herbal medicine. It is not meant for internal consumption. Please note that I am neither a herbalist nor an astrologer - this product is solely based on folk practices and animist beliefs. Always perform a patch test before use and shake well.

As the oil holds both the ninefold blessings of the Solstice herbs and the triple grace of the heavens (the golden radiance of Jupiter in the heart of the Sun, the nurturing mystery of the New Moon in Cancer, and the fertile bounty of Venus enthroned in Taurus), this is an especially potent formula - the green relic of a singular moment in time, macerated with flame and power.

Apply to the brow, heart, soles, or employ to dress sacred tools and candles. Use in solar ritual or daily devotion throughout the turning year. Take some of Summer’s embers with you, and keep their light safe into the Dark Season.
